1982-1983 SENATE DOCUMENT #47 FWD DOCUMENT #6 ANNUAL REVIEW OF COMMITTEES Functioning as requested in FWD Document number one, the committee presents the following recommendations to the Senate for its adoption. I. Committees to be Eliminated A. Historical Resources B. Developmental Studies C. International Studies EXPLANATION: The above committees met infrequently and in the judgement of select members had no significant contribution to make. Some once were active, but have become idle as conditions changed. In the event that their services are again needed, such committees may be reestablished. II. Committees to be Merged A. Honors and Degree Programs into one committee entitled "The Degree Programs and Honors Committee" (six members) B. Athletics Committee to be combined with the Recreation and Intramurals, with four faculty members serving C. Energy combined with Safety, with four appointed members. D. Library and LRC Committee, with six appointed members. E. Campus Court and Traffic Appeals, with four faculty appointments. F. Campus Commission with Publications Committee, with two faculty appointments. G. Place the Pre-Med and Foreign Student Advising functions under the direction of the Advising Committee EXPLANATION: The above committees also met infrequently, but had necessary functions to perform. Combining them can conserve faculty time, yet give each committee sufficient work to make service on them rewarding.
