                 RESPONSE TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES ACTION ON ENGINEERING







           (1)  The Senate notes with regret that a proposal for a

                substantial new program was adopted without any reference

                to the established planning procedures of the institution.



           (2)  The Senate directs the Executive Committee to request a

                meeting with the Chancellor and the Executive Committee

                of the Board of Trustees to express their concerns.
