1980-81 SENATE DOCUMENT #32 APC DOCUMENT #32 Course Addition for the Department of Art The Academic Policies Committee recommends to the Faculty Senate approval of the following course addition for the Department of Art: ADD Art 451 Creative Arts Methods in the Elementary School (3) Art appreciation. Theory, materials laboratory and a study of the philosophies of art education. Lectures, demonstrations and studio. Open only to art majors. Credit not allowed if student has credit for Art 450. Rationale: This course would be taken by those students who have a major in art and whose creativity would not be stimulated in Art 450 -- a course required of all education majors. In Art 451 the projects will be more creative and challenging to the students. Since we do not have an art education major, this would be the only course of study open to art majors who want to teach. This course is required for K-12 certification and to meet the standards for re-accreditation. Effective Date: Summer, 1981 (Passed by Faculty Senate 4/2/81)
