Rationale 1. PE 120 - Track and Field a. Track and Field has not been taught in last two years. b. When this course was offered, class enrollments were very small - approximately five (5) to eight. 2. PE 210 - Intermediate Badminton a. Intermediate Badminton has a history of very low student enrollment. C. Deletions of PE 120 and PE 210 on Page 148 1980-81 Catalog. II. Addition to Physical Education Curriculum A. PE 127 Jogging 1. Course Description - The primary aim is for overall cardiorespiratory development by jogging and walking as the main mode of exercise. These will be supplemented by flexibility and condition exercises for muscle tone. Prerequisite: physical examination. 2. Rationale a. The course has been tried under Special Topic Designation during the two (2) semesters of 1980-81 year. b. The course was offered in 6 sections with an average enrollment of 23 students. c. The student response, those who actively took the course, seems to be highly enthusiastic. This statement is justified by responses of Physical Education Department "Student Evaluation of Faculty and Course" form. Page 2 d. The concept of jogging is almost universal in the society of the day. The student should have some theory and facts along with the jogging for individual fitness. B. PE 132 Archery 1. Course Description - This course is designed to introduce the student to the many facets of the sport which may be utilized avocationally throughout one's lifetime. Material for study and practice will include: archery tackle, history, safety and skill fundamentals. 2. Rationale: a. This course concept has been tried out under the Special Topics designation during both semesters of 1980-81 calendar year. b. The course was offered in two (2) sections with an average enrollment of 27 students. c. This course conforms to the basic department philosophy - life time sports. C.
