Senate Document #7 APC Document #3 The Academic Policies Committee recommends to the Faculty Senate the adoption of the following course approvals for the Department of Foreign Languages: A) IST 173 Beginning Conversational Italian (3 cr.) This course will provide students with the essential rules of modern Italian grammar, and will introduce them to the contemporary spoken language. Rationale: To respond to student demand, and to take advantage of competent, available instructor. To be offered Spring Semester, 1980. B) IST 271 Communication Systems II (1) This course will explore general radio amateur theory. Special attention will be given to the F.C.C. standards for the Technician Radio Amateur License. Participants will use the facilities of the Foreign Language Lab, and the university's radio amateur and short wave equipment, station WV4TRX. At the end of the semester, students will take the F.C.C. Radio Amateur Technicians exam. Prerequisite: IST 171 (Communication Systems) or Novice Radio Amateur License. Rationale: One-credit successor course to IST 171, which is being offered the current Fall Semester. Response to student and area needs. To be offered Spring Semester, 1980.
