Senate Document #5, 1979-80 Charge of the Academic Policies Committee A description of the duties of the Academic Policies Committee is given in the Senate Constitution: Operationally, the duties of this committee are interpreted as follows: 1. Evaluate and approve (or modify or disapprove) departmental proposals for prospective course and/or curricular changes; 2. Evaluate and approve (or modify or disapprove) proposals from departments, faculty, or academic administrators for prospective policy changes relating to all-university degree requirements, grading policy, transfer-of-credit policy, or other academic policies or standards; and, where necessary, assure that all approved proposals that will be published in the catalog are cast in language which is as clear and precise as possible. 3. Respond to requests from the Senate, the Chancellor, or the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs to explore and/or formulate prospective academic policies or procedures; 4. Initiate prospective changes in any area of academic policy or procedure which the Committee believes to need attention; 5. At the conclusion of its deliberations on any proposal or issue, recommend specific action to the Senate. (Adopted by Faculty Senate, 10/17/79.)
