Senate Document #3, 1979-80 SD0379 Charge of the Faculty Welfare Committee The Faculty Welfare Committee reports to the Senate and shall be concerned with: 1. Conditions of employment at UNC-A. 2. Matters of professional development for the faculty in their roles as teachers or researchers. The Committee shall function to: 1. Oversee policies and procedures in the above areas. 2. Communicate to faculty and candidates for faculty positions regarding policies and procedures. 3. Consult with administration regarding policies and procedures as they affect conditions of employment or professional development. In carrying out the above charges, the Faculty Welfare Committee will direct its attention to the following areas: 1. Salary and fringe benfits. 2. Tenure and promotion policies. 3. Institutional support for faculty research and other professional activities (e.g. travel money, computer time, indirect costs for research, professional leave). 4. Teaching conditions, including allocation of resources (e.g. secretarial and staff support, equipment and supplies, budgeting, release time, course load, etc.). The Faculty Welfare Committee shall be policy orientated; individual grievances shall be taken up with the Grievance Committee. (Adopted by Faculty Senate, 10/17/79.)
