                            Procedures:

                  Senate Action as University Policy



     Faculty Senate action on academic policies, faculty personnel
policies, and academic programs shall be forwarded to the Chancellor
of the University by the Chairman of the Faculty Senate.  Accompanying
the appropriate documents shall be the official minutes of the sessions
at which the Senate action was taken.  The Chancellor may approve the
action, request modification, or withhold approval.  In the event of
approval, the Chancellor shall notify the Chairman of the Senate, as
promptly as possible, that the action is approved as University policy,
provided that further approval is not required by the Board of Trustees
and/or Board of Governors.  If the Chancellor requests modification
or withholds his approval, he shall notify the Chairman of the Senate
as promptly as possible, stating his reasons in writing.
