SENATE DOCUMENT #29 APC Document #21 The Academic Policies Committee recommends to the Faculty Senate the adoption of the following catalog changrs for the Department of Psychology: DELETE: Current titles and course descriptions for Psychology 303 and 304. ADD: 303 RESEARCH METHODS I (3) An introduction to the basic methodology used in Psychology. Emphasis is placed on the origins of the scientific method and its appropriateness in the field of Psychology. Students are presented with the rationale and are taught the procedures for systematically observing psychological phenomena. Techniques are also introduced to aid the student in describing and interpreting these phenomena. 304 RESEARCH METHODS II (3) A consideration of the more advanced procedures and methods of examining psychological concepts with special consideration on controlled experimental procedures and appropriate interpretive techniques. Students will design, conduct and analyze their own experiment on psychological phenomena of interest. Prerequisite: Psychology 303.
