Senate Document #2 APC Document #1 The Academic Policies Committee recommends to the Faculty Senate the adoption of the following: CATALOG REVISION: Delete: Interdisciplinary Special Topics as Section Heading, p. 166; In its place add: "Interdisciplinary Courses." Change: 195, 295, 395, 495 - Interdisciplinary Special Topics (1,2,3,4) to 171-4, 271-4, 371-4, 471-4 - Interdisciplinary Special Topics so that the section will appear as follows: INTERDISCIPLINARY COURSES 301 - Western Attitudes Toward Death and Dying (3) Drawing from disciplines as diverse as history, literature, philosophy, psychology, sociology, religion, and medicine, the course will focus upon changing attitudes toward death and dying from the "tamed death" mentality of the ancient Christians to the "forbidden death" attitude of modern man. A wide-ranging course, Death and Dying will touch upon such topics as abortion, suicide, euthanasia, infanticide, senicide, and cryonics. 171-4, 271-4, 371-4, 471-4 - Interdisciplinary Special Topics Special elective courses which do not fall within the traditional subject matter of one academic department.
