Senate Document #1 Resolution #1 Whereas North Carolina State Law has the following provision applying to public school personnel: "The Superintendent shall maintain in his office a personnel file for each teacher that contains any complaint, commendation, or suggestion for correction or improvement about the teacher. The complaint, commendation, or suggestion shall be signed by the person who makes it and shall be placed in the teacher's file only after five days' notice to the teacher. Any denial or explanation relating to such complaint, commendation, or suggestion that the teacher desires to make shall be placed in the file." And Whereas UNC-A faculty personnel should reasonably expect protection comparable to that provided by state law to public school personnel. Be it resolved That the Senate recommend that a system be adopted at UNC-A comparable in its effects to the one provided by state law for public school personnel, and that the Faculty Welfare Committee be charged with drawing up the details of such a system.
