Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document  46:                                         Changes in AP Credit for ART Courses

Effective Date:  Fall 2005

Delete:        On pgs. 26-27, under AP Test:

                   Art

                              History                                3, 4, 5               3                      None (A)

                              Studio, Drawing                   3, 4, 5               3                      None (A)

                              Studio, General                    3, 4, 5               3                      None (A)

Add:            On pgs. 26-27, in place of deleted entry:

                    Art

                              History                                5                      3                      ARTH 201 or 202

                              Studio, Drawing                   5                      3                      None (A)

                              Studio, General                    5                      3                      ART 100

Impact:  This will have minimal impact on the program and resources due to the small number of students who will be eligible for credit.

Rationale:  These changes will formalize a policy the Art Department instituted this past summer (2004) for incoming Freshman.  Raising the acceptable score allows specific course credit to be assigned for the Art History and General Studio courses, while ensuring students are adequately prepared to advance beyond the introductory courses.
