Effective Date:  Fall 2005

1.  Delete:        On pg. 160, in description of ACCT 317:

Prerequisites:  ACCT 216; or permission of instructor.

Add:     On pg. 160, in place of deleted entry:

                        Prerequisite:  ACCT 215.

Impact:   None

Rationale:

ACCT 216 will no longer be required for Accounting majors.  Introduction to ACCT 317 will be modified.

2.  Delete:        On pg. 161, in description of ACCT 417:

Prerequisites:  ACCT 216; junior standing or permission of instructor.

Add:     On pg. 161, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisite:  ACCT 215; junior standing or permission of instructor.

Impact:  None

Rationale:

ACCT 216 will no longer be required for Accounting majors.  Introduction to ACCT 417 will be modified.

3.  Delete:        On pg. 162, in description for MGMT 316:

Prerequisites: MGMT 313.

Add:            On pg. 162, in place of deleted entry:

                        Prerequisite:  MGMT 220.

Impact:  None.

Rationale:

MGMT 220 includes coverage of group and team dynamics to give students an adequate base of knowledge to pursue these topics further in this class.  MGMT 313 also includes among its topics group and team dynamics, but it should not be a requirement for MGMT 316.

4.  Delete:        On pg. 163, in description for MGMT 380:

Prerequisites: STAT 185 or 225.

Add:            On pg. 163, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisites: MGMT 220; STAT 185 or 225 or PSYC 202.

Impact:  None.

Rationale:

A variety of statistics based courses can provide an appropriate quantitative background for the course, but students need to understand the fundamentals of management to understand the applications.

5.  Delete:        On pg. 163, in description for MGMT 381:

                         Prerequisites: MGMT 220; STAT 185 or 225.

Add:            On pg. 163, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisite:  STAT 185 or 225 or PSYC 202.

Impact:

The course will be accessible to a wider variety of students.  The increase in demand should not affect the number of courses that are currently offered.

Rationale:

Course can be approached and understood by people outside the Management discipline.

6.  Delete:        On page 163, in description for MGMT 398:

                        Prerequisite:  MGMT 350.

Impact:

The course will be accessible to students outside the management major.  The increase in demand should not affect the number of courses that are currently offered.

Rationale:

While reducing prerequisites will result in a change in the way the topics are introduced, it will make the course available to International Studies students.  These students may not have an opportunity to take the principles of marketing class as a prerequisite and it is not appropriate to require the majors to have a prerequisite if other students are not required to have it.

7.  Delete:        On pg. 163, in description for MGMT 425:

Prerequisites:   MGMT 321,421.

Add:            On pg. 163, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisite:  MGMT 321.

Impact:  None.

Rationale:

While a background in the legal environment of health care enriches the course, scheduling and timing issues make it a burden to some students.

8.  Delete:        On pg. 164, in description for MGMT 458:

                        Prerequisites:  MGMT 350, 352, 453; senior standing.

Add:     On pg. 164, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisites:  MGMT 350, 352; senior standing.

Impact:              None.

Rationale:

While a background in consumer behavior enriches the course, scheduling and timing issues will be improved by the change.

9.  Delete:        On pg. 164, in description for MGMT 480:

Prerequisites: ECON 306; MGMT 380, senior standing; pre- or co-requisite
MGMT 398.

Add:             On pg. 164, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisites:   ECON 306; MGMT 380; senior standing.

Impact:   None.

Rationale:

Accounting students will be taking MGMT 480 as part of the departmental core and they are not required to take MGMT 398.  The approach to teaching the course will be changed to provide the same in-depth coverage of topics.

10. Delete:       On pg. 164, in description for MGMT 491:

Prerequisites:  HUM 414; senior standing; completion of all required 300-level management courses.  Pre- or co-requisite: MGMT 480.

Add:             On pg. 164, in place of deleted entry:

Prerequisites:  Senior standing; completion of all required 300-level core management courses.  Pre- or corequisite: MGMT 480.

Impact:  None.

Rationale:

HUM 414 will no longer exist.  The 300-level management classes that are required are those that are in the common core and the management core, not those that are required in the concentration areas.
