Impact:
This document summarises the changes in Classics courses that are described in the other individual documents and no impact on other departments is foreseen. On the Classics department, the removal of some courses to Special Topics and the addition of Ovid will put in writing what has been departmental practice over the last couple of years.

Rationale:
As numbers of Classics majors continue to increase, we felt the need to emend the list of courses we created in 1997 to take into account changes in text books and certain courses which have either been taught more frequently than we had envisaged, or less frequently. We also wish to list a few possible special topics which we cannot be absolutely sure of teaching within the three-year period mandated by UNCA's policy on "sunset courses" but which are valuable topics in themselves. We want students to be aware of academic possibilities beyond the canonical course list and thus to have input into our decisions on each semester's course schedule.
