Effective Date: Fall 2003

2. Add:
On pg 80, under Concentration in Latin, at the end of IV:

3. Add:
On pg 80, under Concentration in Greek and Latin, at the end of IV:

Computer competency will be demonstrated through successful completion of CLAS 495.

Impact:
None.

Rationale:
This policy has been mandated by SACS. Students majoring in Classics should be able to use a standard word processing program and be able, where appropriate to use software for writing Greek fonts. This competency will be tested both in the papers which they are regularly required to write for 300 and 400 level courses and as part of the senior thesis required of all graduating majors.

In addition to this competency we require all majors to know how to do internet searches and to be familiar with some of the most important Classical sites on the web (e.g. those sites listed on Ramsey Library's electronic resources for Classicists). This competency will be tested in the senior thesis in which they will be required to cite appropriate websites alongside conventionally published articles and books.
