POLS 150 Politics for a Changing World (3)
This introductory course is designed for the university-wide General Education social science requirement. Citizenship for the 21st century requires knowledge and awareness of both domestic politics and international affairs. This course introduces students to the tools they will need in a rapidly changing world to meet that challenge. While themes vary, topics such as the origins of politics, the workings of governments, war and peace, globalization and how politics affects everyday life will be introduced and discussed. Fall and Spring

IMPACT: More efficient use of department personnel and resources. Clarifies political science general education offering.

RATIONALE: Changes in the world as well as the breadth and depth of our curricular interests call for a more integrated approach to the study of politics. POLS 150 is not a doctrinaire introduction to political science but instead keeps to the liberal arts tradition of general education. POLS 150 (like POLS 120 and 180 on which it is built) does not count toward the political science major.
