APC Document 7:                   Add Academic Credit for History International Baccalaureate Exam

Effective Date: Fall 2012

1.      Add:          On page 39, under IB Exam, before the entry for Latin:

                                          Grade              Credit Hours               Course Waiver

History Americas        5, 6, 7                      3                          HIST 102

            History Europe            5, 6, 7                      3                          HIST 152

Impact Statement:

No impact on faculty teaching loads. Students who have the appropriate scores on the Higher-Level IB exams in History will now receive academic credit and hours.

Rationale:

Currently, students who take these exams do not receive academic credit. Adding the History Department’s policy on IB Exam credit to the catalog will allow students to receive hours and appropriate credit for the courses.
