Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 69:  Replace CHEM 234 with CHEM 231 as a requirement for the minor in Chemistry

Effective Date: Fall 2011

1. Delete:  On page 93, under Minor in Chemistry:

23 hours including CHEM 145, 234, 236, 328;

Add : On page 93, in place of deleted entry:

22 hours including CHEM 145, 231, 236, 328;

Impact: 

There will be no impact on the staffing and resources in the Department of Chemistry.

Rationale: 

This is an oversight from when the sequence of courses in chemistry was changed. CHEM 234 is the old 4-hour, first semester Organic Chemistry last taught in Fall 2007. CHEM 231 is the current 3-hour Organic Chemistry I.
