APC Document 18: Editorial changes resulting from changes to CSCI courses

Effective Date: Fall 2011

1. Delete: On page 33, in Advanced Placement section, under Computer Science:

A 3, 4, 5 3 CSCI 201

AB 3 3 CSCI 201

4, 5 6 CSCI 201, 202

Add: On page 33, in place of deleted entry:

A 3, 4, 5 3 CSCI 181

AB 3 3 CSCI 181

2. Delete: On page 34, in International Baccalaureate section, for Computing Studies:

5, 6, 7 6 CSCI 201, 202

Add: On page 34, in place of deleted entry:

5, 6, 7 6 CSCI 181, 202

Impact:

Students will receive credit for CSCI 181 instead of the deleted 201.

Rationale:

Most AP and IB courses will be closer to CSCI 181 than CSCI 182.

3. Delete: On page 80, under the Concentrations in Climatology and Weather Forecasting, in item I:

CSCI 201 may be substituted for ATMS 230.

Add: On page 80, in place of deleted entry:

CSCI 181 may be substituted for ATMS 230.

Impact:

None

Rationale:

ATMS students should take the more numerically-oriented replacement for CSCI 201.

4. Delete: On page 127, under Two-Plus-Two Engineering Program:

Add: On page 127, in place of deleted entry:

CSCI 181 Introductory Programming for Numeric Applications

Impact:

None.

Rationale:

CSCI 181 is appropriate for transfer into an Engineering program.

5. Delete: On pages 212 and 213, under the Pure (Theoretical) Mathematics, Applied Mathematics,

Statistics, and Mathematics with Teacher Licensure concentrations, in item II:

Add: On pages 212 and 213, in place of deleted entry:

CSCI 181

Impact:

None

Rationale:

MATH students should take the more numerically-oriented replacement for CSCI 201.

6: Delete: On page 225, under Bachelor of Science in Music Technology, in item II:

CSCI 201;

Add: On pages 225, in place of deleted entry:

CSCI 182;

Impact:

None

Rationale:

MUSC students will be better served by 182, due to its topics dealing with graphics and audio.
