Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

APC Document 74:                                          Editorial changes to courses requiring a course from

HWP 152-155 as a prerequisite

Effective Date: Fall 2010

1. Replace:          On the pages indicated, in the courses indicated, the following prerequisites:

a. Page 155, in HWP 260, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

b. Page 155, in HWP 284, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

c. Page 155, in HWP 290, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

d. Page 157 in HWP 333, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

e. Page 157 in HWP 350, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

f. Page 157 in HWP 355, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

g. Page 158 in HWP 360, replace: one course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155, with

completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement

Impact:

None, because the statements “one course from 152, 153, 154 or 155” and “completion of the ILS Health and Wellness requirement” are equivalent from a staffing and student perspective.

Rationale:

A course from HWP 152, 153, 154 or 155 will no longer be included as a required course for students majoring in HWP since all students, regardless of major, are required to complete the ILS Health and Wellness requirement in order to graduate. Instead of having a specific course requirement listed as a prerequisite in the above courses, the listings have been changed. By indicating students must complete the ILS Health and Wellness requirement prior to taking these courses, students know they need to have the basic knowledge covered by this requirement prior to enrolling.
