Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

 

 

APC Document 30:                   Catalog changes resulting from deletion of ART 100, 101,

102, 103 and 345, and addition of ART 110, 111, 112, 113 and 114, respectively

 

Effective Date: Fall 2010

 

 

1.  Delete:         On page 64, last paragraph on page:

 

                  The required core foundation courses, ART 100, 101, 102 and 103 are the base upon

which the studio concentrations are built, providing each student with an essential variety of

studio processes as well as historical background and critical theory. Students completing the Art History concentration choose 6 hours from ART 100 and either 101 or 103 since these courses focus on the history and the theory behind visual aesthetics.

 

Add:     On page 64, in place of deleted entry:

 

The required foundation courses, ART 110, 111, 112, and either 113 or 114 are the basis upon which the studio concentrations are built, providing each student with an essential variety of studio processes as well as historical background and critical theory. Students completing the Art History concentration complete ART 110 and 111 since these courses focus on the history and the theory behind two-dimensional and three-dimensional visual aesthetics.

 

 

 

2.  Delete:         On page 65, under Departmental Admission Requirements, item A.1.:

Impact: 

Department course offerings are being restructured to shift students to under-enrolled courses.  There will be no impact in regards to additional studio space/equipment, resources or the need for additional faculty. The required credit hours have been adjusted to reflect the additional hours from ART 110 and 111.

 

Rationale: 

These changes are required to keep the information up-to-date in response to the changes in course numbers and prerequisites for the foundation core courses within the Art Department.
