483        Film Criticism (4)

This course develops a student’s ability to engage in film scholarship. Students hone writing skills through a series of papers focusing on different approaches to film criticism, ranging from journalistic to more theoretical approaches.  Prerequisite: MCOM 104; or permission of instructor. Offered once per year.

Impact:

Students will receive an additional credit for this elective

Rationale:

This course was overlooked when the department moved its skills courses to 4 credit hours to accommodate an increase in their writing, design or video laboratory component. The course has been meeting on a 4-hour basis. The revised description better reflects the actual content and activities in the course.
