Statement of Faculty Senate Action:

FWDC 8: Proposal to Amend the Duties of the University Teaching Council

(Revision of SD7503S; Faculty Handbook 10.3.6)

Effective Date: Immediately

Rationale: to include in committee description its function with regard to Professional Development Leave applications.

Add: In the Faculty Handbook, under section 10.3.6, under “Purpose”:

4. To appoint two members to the committee that will review applications for Professional Development Leaves. See Faculty Handbook 4.1.4.3.

Add: under “Membership,” at end of section:

Two members of the UTC who are beginning the second year of their two-year terms will sit on the committee that reviews applications for Professional Development Leave. If there are fewer than two returning members, the chair will appoint one of the new members to this position.
